LouAnn Laube, 75, of Tripoli, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo with her family at her side.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, St. John Lutheran Church, Spring Fountain of rural Sumner with Rev. George Volkert officiating. Interment will follow at Lutheran Cemetery of Sumner Township. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli and for one hour preceding services at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Cedar Valley Hospice or the Elevator Fund at St. John Lutheran Church, Spring Fountain.

LouAnn, daughter of Bernard and Florence Poock Everding, was born September 12, 1937, in Bremer County, Iowa. Shortly after her birth, her mother died and LouAnn was reared by her father and stepmother, Hulda. She was baptized September 22, 1937, and confirmed March 18, 1951, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Readlyn. She attended country school and graduated from Tripoli High School in 1956. She attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls for two years, and received her B.A. from Wartburg College in 1983. On June 15, 1958, she was united in marriage with Harold Laube at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Readlyn. LouAnn taught school at Plainfield for one year and for many years at Tripoli prior to retiring in 2000. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Spring Fountain where she was a member of the Ladies Society. She enjoyed cooking, baking, bowling, quilting, traveling, but most of all enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Harold of Tripoli, she is survived by two sons, Brent (Susan) Laube of Keller, Texas and Brian (Kim) Laube of Altoona, Iowa; one daughter, Linda (Wayne) Ott of Waterloo,; nine grandchildren, Erin (Josh) Sinram, Matt (Michelle) Laube, Kelsey (Ryan) Sage, Ryan (Chelsea) Laube, Nathan Ott, Caroline Laube, Laura Laube, Olivia Laube, and Alex Laube; one great grandson, Trevor Sage; and one brother, Robert (Marilyn) Everding of Maquoketa, Iowa.

LouAnn was preceded in death by her father, mother, and stepmother.

The family of LouAnn would like to express their heart felt appreciation to the staff of Cedar Valley Hospice. Their gentle, loving care for LouAnn impacted us deeply. These special people will never be forgotten.

Just heard of the passing this past weekend. I have been out of Tripoli for a number of years, but remember the Laube's well. The family is in our prayers daily. LuAnn was a wonderful person and will have a special place in heaven.

Harold and family ~ LouAnn was a wonder person and teacher. All three of our children had Mrs. Laube as their teacher. When our oldest daughter had surgery and was bed ridden for 9 weeks, LouAnn never gave it a second thought and said she would love to come after school to keep Branigan up with her lessons. LouAnn has a special place in our hearts.

May you find comfort in the memories during this difficult time. Mrs. Laube (as she will always be to me!) was one of my favorite teachers in elementary- one that I aspired to be like as I went into teaching. I can remember to this day the learning and fun that took place in that classroom- dipping candles, making corn husk dolls, learning multiplication facts- and mostly, trying to model her perfect cursive! She was an amazing teacher and person who will be missed by so many.

My thoughts and prayers to the family as you remember what a terrific person Luann was. Luann and I were of the same age as we played and had fun together as youngesters, especially at the Gabelmann reunions. Hulda was a first cousin of my mothers and they enjoyed comparing their two little girls as we grew up. It was always a joy to visit with Luann in later years and compared notes. The last time I visited with Luann was at her Mother's funeral. May your memories be fond and help you as you grief your loss. God's blessing on you.
